School Bus and Charter Bus Drivers (Lee County) – Full Time and Part Time $12.00/hr.

Our School Bus Drivers pick up students at stops along established routes and drop them off at school while staying on schedule and ensuring the safety of passengers. They may also transport students and faculty to special events, such as field trips or sporting events. They are also responsible for maintaining a safe environment within the bus by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies.

Our professional Charter Drivers operate a coach, activity bus, bus or van to transport passengers on intrastate trips, chartered tours or on scheduled routes while providing safe and courteous transportation.  Charter Drivers must have the ability to work weekdays, weekends, nights, holidays, special days, etc.

Both positions fulfill Paratransit Driver duties during idle times at a lower per hour rate. Our Paratransit Drivers operate lift-equipped, paratransit vehicles safely and efficiently in the door-to-door transport of passengers to scheduled sites. They assist passengers on and off assigned vehicles which may include passengers with wheelchairs and other durable medical devices; assure the safety of passengers while riding in assigned vehicles; report schedule delays, accidents, passenger incidents, medical/behavioral problems, emergencies, vehicle equipment failure and/or unusual circumstances to Dispatch and maintains accurate records and logs of trip information as required.

The minimum qualifications include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Valid Florida CDL with “P” and “S” endorsements
  • Clean driving record for the past 7 years
  • At least 25 years of age with three years driving experience for insurability
  • Must submit a local background check with application (can be obtained from local sheriff’s office)

Drivers (Lee County) – Part Time $10.25/hr.

Approximately between 5:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., under 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday and one Saturday a month. Company vehicles will be stationed in Fort Myers.

We are in search of Drivers for the Naples area. Company vehicles will be stationed in Naples, not Fort Myers. Good Wheels is looking for full-time and part-time professional paratransit drivers to safely transport hospital discharge passengers throughout the duration of their trip – from the time they are picked until the transport is completed.

Our Drivers operate lift-equipped, vehicles safely and efficiently in the door-to-door transport of passengers; assists passengers on and off assigned vehicles which may include passengers with wheelchairs and other durable medical devices; assures the safety of passengers while riding in assigned vehicles; reports schedule delays, accidents, passenger incidents, medical/behavioral problems, emergencies, vehicle equipment failure and/or unusual circumstances to Dispatch and maintains accurate records and logs of trip information as required. Completes daily vehicle check, obtains signatures from passengers, reads paperwork.

Mechanic – Full Time $16.00/hr.

Working Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Experienced, thorough Mechanic for our service department. This includes a well-trained and highly organized professional who takes pride in their work and can perform various customer service duties as required throughout the day. Inspects, diagnoses problems and repairs all vehicles (i.e. coaches, buses, vans and related motor vehicles) and equipment.

Plans work procedures, using charts, technical manuals and experience. Tunes engines to ensure efficient operation. Removes spark plugs, using socket wrench and tests them. Sets valve tappets, using feeler gauge or dial indicator. Replaces defective coils, condensers and electrical connections. Examines battery and connections, and electrical charging and starting circuit. Repairs fan belts and fuel and water pumps. May raise vehicle using hydraulic jack or hoist to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicleInspects parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers and thickness gauges. Repairs or replaces parts, such as bearings, using mechanic’s hand tools. Overhauls or replaces starters and pumps. May rewire ignition systems, lights and instrument panels. Relines and adjusts brakes, aligns front ends, repairs or replaces shock absorbers and solders leaks in radiators. Replaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories such as heaters, mirrors and windshield wipers. Changes oil, adds water and other fluids as needed. Performs upgrades and/or modifications on vehicles and equipment. Performs road calls and on-the-road repairs as needed. Maintains a clean and well-organized work area.

The minimum qualifications include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Graduation from high school or GED or vocational/technical school preferred
  • One year of experience as an A Mechanic or five (5) or more years progressive experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of heavy duty transit equipment to include late model year automotive, light or heavy duty truck or heavy road equipment
  • Valid Florida Driver License – a CDL “B” with Passenger and no air brake restriction and a safe driving record
  • Welding/fabricating, hydraulic and computer diagnostic experience are preferred
  • ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification(s) preferred
  • DOT certification a plus
  • Must possess the hand tools of the trade
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Must be able to communicate, read, write and follow written and spoken instructions in English

Scheduler – Part Time $12.00/hr.

Monday – Friday, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m..

We are searching for a dependable Scheduler to develop, produce and distribute the most efficient, cost effective daily routes for all Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties routes based on the number of vehicles, drivers, hours and miles constraints utilizing a computerized map based paratransit order taking, trip editing, automated scheduling, dispatching, billing and reporting software system (PtMS – Paratransit Management System).

The Scheduler will provide administrative support by preparing reports and correspondence, maintaining reports regarding shifts in ridership trends, schedule adherence, and other related statistical data, respond to questions and complaints, and coordinate with fellow employees regarding trips, driver customer service, vehicle type assignments, routing instructions and other related issues.

Will assist drivers, insurance brokers, clients and management with problems or issues relating to scheduling; communicate with management as needed to maximize efficiencies and resolve issues along with identifying and recommending improvements in processes and procedures; manage calls in a professional, systematic and organized manner following departmental guidelines; and is responsible for influencing positive interactions between customers, drivers and employees.

Assists Reservations or Dispatcher when required. Backup Dispatcher when necessary.

The minimum qualifications include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Two or more years of college in Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, or closely related field a plus.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience as a scheduler or dispatcher in a transportation environment or two years as a dispatcher and one year as a reservationist may substitute for the required education.
  • PtMS (Paratransit Management System) or other transportation scheduling software experience preferred.
  • Analytical judgment and decision-making ability.
  • One year of supervisory experience helpful.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, comprehend, write and speak English.
  • Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
  • Must possess computer skills. Typing speed of at least 35 wpm required. Experience working with standard office machines including, but not limited to, fax machines, copy machines, printers, etc.
  • Must have excellent knowledge of the primary, secondary and arterial road network of Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties.
